The Saddleback College women's volleyball team swept Grossmont College in three games last Tuesday for its second win of the season.  However, the scores reveal it was a close match- 25-21, 25-23 and 25-20.

The freshman proved they are spirited competitors, Morgan Kavanaugh had 15 kills, Melissa Chavez had 11 kills, and Christina Licciardi had 12 digs.  Sophomore Rachel Talafus had 14 digs, and Denielle Espejo had 21 assists and 9 digs.

"I'm proud of the team," said coach Carmen Stratton.  "The girls are working hard and playing well.  We still have some fine-tuning to do, as far as building certain skills and becoming more consistent.  But it's encouraging that we are able to win while not playing to our full potential."

The Gauchos' next match is tonight at San Diego City College. The match against the Knights is at 5 p.m.
