Of Gaucho guard Chris Rentie's 18 points Jan. 16, no two were as timely or critical as the driving layup that tied Saddleback and visiting Santa Ana College  at 78 in the closing minute.

The 6'1" freshman's field goal set up the buzzer-beating victory when, after a defensive stand, the Gauchos erased the chance of an overtime when guard Matt Ahren sank an off-balance three-pointer with :04 remaining.

Rentie also had seven rebounds and five assists in the win that boosted his team's record to 8-13 (1-2). 

Saddleback plays next at Orange Coast College on Friday. Tip-off is at 5:30 p.m.
