The Gauchos faced one of their more challenging seasons this year, starting with a 55-0 rout of Mt. San Jacinto, and ending with a first-round playoff loss to College of the Canyons, 34-24 in the Western Conference Bowl.

Saddleback had to cope with a large injury list, which included running back, Josh Ferrell and quarterback, Brian Shrock. This brought about reserve quarterback, Sebastian Trujillo taking the snaps and filling in exceptionally after Shrock's season-ending injury in the final seconds of the game against Riverside.

Micah Abreu-Laybon also did a remarkable job in his duties to replace the injured Ferrell, leading the team in rushing for all but one week in his promoted role.

This squad showed tremendous talent and a will to win in huge comeback victories against Pasadena and Long Beach to help secure its 7-3 record and seventh-consecutive postseason appearance.
