Concert focuses on Mozart

Saddleback Community College kicked off its concert season with "Autumnal Delights", at 8 P.M. on October 13, in the McKinney Theater. The event, which consisted of a symphony orchestra, featured guest conductor Gene Wie instead of Saddleback's usual conductor, Dr. Carmen Dominguez.
It was all about the era of music known as the "Golden Age" during "Autumnal Delights"--with the simple, dimly-lit backdrop and audience's reverent silence doing nothing to spoil the classical, but still powerful music.
The concert contained of the overture to Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart's The Magic Flute, which was the last opera composed by the legendary composer before his death. "Autumnal Delights" also included Franz Schubert's "Unfinished" Symphony No. 8 in B minor, and Nikolai Rimsky-Karsakov's Capriccio Espagnol Op. 34.
The theater, which seats 400, was expected to have about 100 to 200 attendees, according to Nina Welch, Public Relations Officer.
