On Oct. 4 at noon in FA 101, the Janus Duo, M'lou Dietzer and Pennie Foster performed.

The program, "Celebration," was in honor of colleague Nancy Lau's publication of a book of piano duets written for intermediate piano students, from which they performed a medley entitled "Gems for Two."

The program included pieces from a range of styles, spanning from Handel's busy, baroque polyphony in "Entrance of the Queen of Sheeba" to the dissonant, arrhythmic "Overture to Gazebo Dances" of contemporary film composer John Corigliano.

The duo has been playing together for the last six years.
