Saddleback College hosted a college fair on Sept. 11 near the Science and Math building, in front of the Learning Assistance Program entrance.

Students stopped by to pose questions, receive flyers, and learn more information about what certain colleges wished to see in a transfer student. It was very convenient for students to visit after one of their classes ended or before one started to ask a quick question or grab an informational pamphlet.

"It was a good opportunity to find out more about colleges," said Lea Rubio, 17, undecided. "Especially the colleges I am interested in transferring to, like San Diego State University. They were very helpful."

Many colleges were represented, including: University of California Riverside, California State University Long Beach, California State University Fullerton, University of Phoenix, California State Polytechnic University Pomona and San Diego State University, as well as many others.

"Actually they really just gave me flyers and only a little information," said Angel Bridgitte, 19, business. "But I didn't really ask questions. I am sure if I had, they would have helped me."

Although aimed at promoting colleges to all students, it was particularly informative for freshmen, most of whom are foreign to what they want to major in or where they want to transfer to.

"I have ideas of where to apply to now," said Tyaka Minoura, 20, journalism. "I didn't have many ideas last year. This event is especially helpful for freshmen because they are introduced to all the possibilities. I am transferring this fall, and it was great to hear from colleges I want to transfer to."

Saddleback's Transfer Center also had a booth for those with questions. They reported when certain college representatives would be available, upcoming transfer days, and other vital information.

Events like the college fair equip students with the best tools to transfer.

A second college fair wiill be held Sept. 26 in the same location near the Library and the Science and Math Building.
