Former Saddleback president dies after battle with cancer

Richard D. McCullough, whose vision was to create the Saddleback College Veterans Memorial, died yesterday after a battle with cancer. He was Saddleback College president from 2004 to 2008. McCullough, who was known for being affable and hardworking, will be surely be missed. Full story

Founding faculty member bequeaths $140K for scholarship

Professor Linda Rice posthumously donates money for students aspiring to work in education.

A founding faculty member endowed over $140,000 in scholarship funds to Saddleback College Foundation in appreciation for the aid she received while attending college. The late instructor Linda Richardson Rice, who passed away in 2010, bequeathed the funds to help students majoring in education or planning a career in the field, according to a letter from the law office of Jane Bauer, the attorney carrying out her will. The Business Science Division of Saddleback College is hosting its Spring Film Series this semester. Each event features a movie celebrating a particular theme. The first film “Super Size Me” was shown Monday in the Business and General Studies building in honor of New Year’s resolutions, particularly in regards to personal fitness and nutrient intake. Dr. John Corvino, "The Gay Moralist," to speak as part of Social {Live} Series

Dr. John Corvino will be speaking on Tuesday, Feb. 14, 2012, at noon in the McKinney Theater as apart of the Social {Live} Series. His lecture is called "The Gay Moralist." The creative-writing series has been brought to Saddleback to enlighten students on serious debatable issues that are prevalent in our culture and lives. As an American, it is time to decide why doughnuts have been included in the list of respectable breakfast foods and why it continues on. After all, Americans eat 10 billion doughnuts a year, which is 35 doughnuts per person. That’s a lot of morning drives to a nearby cafe or doughnut store.
